About the studios
Founded in 2001 Whirled Art Studios set out to create affordable artist and workshop space to suit all creatives.
Fashioned from 2 large inter connected railway arches close to Brixton we have created a creative and social environment for our resident artists. Loughborough Junction Studios now comprise 9 self contained and 9 open plan studios catering for a diverse range of artists and crafts people.
The space also incorporates an in house photography studio and Member's Cinema.
Whirled Art successfully expanded its studio base in 2010 with the development of a Victorian Printworks to form our Forest Hill Studios.These studios comprise 20 self contained studios.
Whirled Art is now the home to some 60 artists including painters, designers, ceramicists, glass, textiles and photographers.

About the cinema
Whirled Cinema, opened in February 2010 is an affordable Member's Cinema situated close to Herne Hill and Brixton. A little off the beaten track and situated within a railway arch as part of a larger artist studio complex Whirled Cinema is a great hidden gem.
Our objective is to screen a diverse programme of world and art-house cinema in an intimate, welcoming environment at an affordable price.
We have created a different cinematic experience, a cinema and bar with a lounge feel without the usual cinema box office and need to queue and pay for your ticket before films. Once a member you get to watch all films for free and have the opportunity to bring a guest to share your experience with. Your oyster card doubles as your membership card and allows you to gain access to the cinema.
There is also no need to leave straight after the film as we encourage our members to stay after the credits to meet and talk movies with other members and our staff, who are all passionate and knowledgeable about film.
In addition to our weekly Programme Whirled Cinema also holds periodic theatre, music and literary nights.
Members can also enjoy hire the space at discounted rates to create your own special events.
