Literary Night Tue 24th April

Hi All,

Up The Junction, South London's leading arts salon, returns to Whirled Cinema on April 24th.

UP THE JUNCTION DOES HOME AND AWAY

Up The Junction presents award winning Turkish author Elif Shafak (The Bastard of Istanbul amongst many others), local author Howard Cunnell (The Sea on Fire) and author and playwright Courttia Newland, as well as short films from Factory Fifteen.

Elif is one of the most significant voices in contemporary literature in both Turkish and English and has just been nominated for the 2012 International IMPAC Award.

Herne Hill resident Howard Cunnell's latest novel is set between Brixton and the more exotic Red Sea, as he " maps new noir territory in an incandescent underwater world".

Courttia has written several novels, including Snakeskin, contributed to many short story anthologies, edited poetry collections and is writer in residence at the London College of Communication.

Factory Fifteen are a Stockwell based film & animation studio. Their work has been exhibited around the world in various film festivals. One of the directors, Kibwe Tavares, won the Jury prize at this year's Sundance Film Festival.

Up The Junction will be hosted by novelist Stella Duffy.

Come and join us from 7.30pm for an evening of eclectic banter and a chance to discover something new in the neighbourhood.
