Hi there
Our 'teen screening' film this Saturday probably does not need much of an introduction given its prolonged success both on stage and on our screens. Billy Elliot, set against the 1980's miners' strike in a small northern town, tells the against-the-odds story of an ordinary boy who discovers his love and talent for dancing. We are delighted for the opportunity to watch this gem on the big screen.
Note to parents: Billy Elliot received a 15 certificate, primarily because of (very) frequent and strong swearing. There are a few discussions on sex and sexuality among young characters, and some may find the way family members treat each other upsetting. There is also some brief violence associated with the miners' strike. But the overall feeling and message of this film is a positive and uplifting one, and many topics raised by the film could lead to valuable family discussions with children who are younger than 15.
